This past summer, archaeologists uncovered a trove of artifacts at an ancient burial site in northern Egypt. The finds included more than 250 sarcophagi—ancient wood or stone coffins—containing well-preserved mummies. Inside one sarcophagus, scientists found a complete, sealed roll of papyrus, a paper-like material, with text written on it. They also unearthed jewelry and hundreds of bronze statues, many of which represent ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses.

Despite being an estimated 2,500 years old, many of the artifacts are in amazing condition. Researchers plan to study them to learn more about ancient Egyptians and their burial practices.
